IIT - Nodal Center

We are honored that the Saroj Mohan Institute of Technology, Guptipara, Hooghly is identified as prestigious “Nodal Centre” of IIT-Kharagpur and IIT-Bombay. The IITs organizes a number of several workshops / seminars / symposium / conference under the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT), funded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India to facilitate online learning of the teachers as well as the students and those who are in employments or in pursuit of knowledge, completely free of cost to them. The Nodal centre is involved with several initiatives of IIT-Kharagpur and IIT-Bombay like knowledge empowerment of teachers by conducting workshops for a number of participants using latest communicative pedagogy including Animation, Spoken tutorials, Virtual labs, and Online courses. Its soul opportunities are composed with a unique synchronous training methodology that enables the system to improve faculty quality and ensures equity to access expensive resources even in remote corners. "Train 10 thousand teachers" is a major initiative under the NMEICT, in which IIT-Kharagpur and IIT- Bombay are working as partner institutes to enhance the teaching and learning skills of engineering college teachers in core Engineering and Science subjects.  Under this programme, two-week ISTE workshops are conducted during the vacation period in summer and winter at this college campus as a “Nodal Centre”. Live lectures are given by IIT faculty to the participating teachers attend this remote center close to their own college or according to their convenience, and there are also some tutorial and lab sessions conducted. The lecture transmission and live interaction take place through distance mode using the A-VIEW technology and the Internet.
